Every summer we are plagued by mosquitoes and gnats, which keep us from sleeping and spoil our pleasant evenings. The fight against these annoying insects becomes an annual routine, but not always a successful one.

Traditional methods like mosquito nets often fail because mosquitoes always find a way inside, and if we forget a piece of fruit in the kitchen, the next day we have swarms of fruit flies at home.

It is out of the question to fill our home with chemicals and toxic insecticides that can be dangerous to us and our loved ones. That’s why I was thrilled when a friend told me a simple and eco-friendly trick that got rid of mosquitoes and fruit flies for her once and for all.

What you’ll need:

  • a bowl
  • vinegar (ideally apple cider)
  • plastic wrap or aluminum foil
  • a pin or needle to poke holes

How to do it:

  1. Pour 1 to 2 centimeters of vinegar into the bottom of the bowl. Apple cider vinegar is especially effective thanks to its strong scent, which attracts mosquitoes and fruit flies.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
  3. Use a pin or needle to poke several small holes in the top of the covering.

How it works:

Mosquitoes and fruit flies are attracted by the smell of vinegar and try to get into the bowl through the small holes. But once they fly in, they get stuck there and cannot get out. Gradually you will witness your home being rid of the annoying insects.

If you find the bowl full of insects, simply pour it out, replace the vinegar and repeat the process. You can also try red wine, which also attracts fruit flies.

This method is not only effective but also safe and environmentally friendly. No more chemicals, no toxins – just a natural solution that works. Try it and enjoy a summer without mosquitoes and gnats!
