SZPI found defective food products at the Jednota outlet in Uherský Ostroh. Cream-filled wafer rolls with a cocoa flavor originate from Poland but do not list a manufacturer.

Presence of allergens

Analysis of the sample revealed the presence of an allergen, specifically peanuts. Although the manufacturer stated on the packaging that the food “may contain traces of sesame seeds, peanuts and other nuts”, the measured concentration of peanuts exceeded the recognized “trace” value by more than 300 times.

Therefore, this is a food that may pose a significant health risk for people with an allergy or intolerance to peanuts. Inspectors found the same defect in other cookies as well.

Other non-compliant foods

Other products from Poland include wafer rolls, Wafelki with cappuccino flavor, Wafelki kakaowe and Cookies Bergen chocolate cookies with lentils. All of these foods, however, significantly exceeded the established limits.

In all the products inspectors found that the amount of peanuts exceeded by several times the amount that can be detected as “traces”. SZPI advises all consumers with an allergy or intolerance to peanuts who have the given food at home not to consume it.
