The delicious taste, complemented by the pleasure of a crispy potato crust, is a culinary experience you won’t soon forget. The preparation of this dish, which is only now making its way into our region, is simple. Its result pleasantly surprises us all the more.
If you’re wondering what to cook for lunch or dinner and want to choose something fresh that will appeal even to those with the most demanding palates, these unconventional meat patties are perfect for you. Although the official name of this dish, during whose consumption the juicy filling is complemented by the crunch of a potato crust, is Gomel cutlets, it is common for completely different, unique names to take hold within individual families.
What will we need?
To prepare Gomel cutlets, aside from an appetite for cooking, we will need the following ingredients:
Base:
- Pork meat (can also be chicken) – 400-500 g
- Mushrooms – 200-300 g
- Hard cheese – 100-150 g
- Medium onion
- Dill
- Salt, pepper
Crust:
- Potatoes – 3-4 pieces (depending on size)
- Eggs
- Flour – 3 tablespoons
How to make them?
Chop the mushrooms and onion finely. Fry both ingredients together in oil. Then chop the dill (or other herbs) and grate the cheese. By combining all these ingredients we create the filling for the cutlets.
Cut the meat into thin, medium-sized cutlets and then season them with salt and pepper. Place about a tablespoon of the prepared filling in the center of each. Then wrap the filling in the meat so that it is completely covered.
Meanwhile peel the potatoes and grate them coarsely. Crack the eggs into a deep plate, and put the flour into another container.
Dip each cutlet in the flour, in the egg, and finally in the grated potatoes. The individual layers should hold together; if necessary, we can help them with our hands.
Fry the meat patties coated this way in oil until golden on both sides.
