How your house smells says a lot about you. You may have a perfect interior, but if your home doesn’t smell pleasant to a visitor, they will never be able to feel comfortable. Air fresheners are often quite expensive and not everyone buys them regularly. But what if we told you how you can make an effective air freshener yourself at home for very little money?
Harmonious and peaceful home
Scent really matters. It can bring a sense of comfort and cleanliness into your home. You will never notice the scent of your own home while you’re inside because your nose has already become accustomed to it. So do a small test: go for a walk outside, and when you come back and open the door, try asking yourself whether the smell of your apartment that you noticed right away was pleasant or not.
Cleaning every day, mopping and dusting won’t help either. Ventilation can be effective, but the best thing you can do is make a quality air freshener.
How to make it
The recipe is simple as is its preparation. Use a household fabric softener, which can be inexpensive.
- Water – 50 ml
- Fabric softener – 2 tablespoons
- Vinegar – 1 tablespoon
- Baking soda – 2 tablespoons
- Alcohol – 5 tablespoons
- Spray bottle
How to prepare
First pour the water into a bowl. Add the baking soda, fabric softener, vinegar, alcohol and mix well. Pour the entire mixture into the spray bottle and spray every spot in your home. You can spray inside the wardrobe, on pillows, covers, curtains and even towels. Most often, however, aim into the air where the scent will disperse.
You can apply it once or several times a day depending on what feels comfortable to you.
Other uses for fabric softener
If you have leftover cheap fabric softener and don’t want to use it for laundry, try some of the other uses.
- Wipe the floor with it
- Spray clothing with a spray bottle before ironing
- Polish windows with it
- Clean the carpet with it
Your home will then smell great and every visitor will feel like they’re wrapped in cotton.
