For this recipe you will need really small potatoes. It is very tasty and will definitely please the whole family if you serve it to them. These potatoes are suitable as a side dish, but you can enjoy them on their own. And moreover you’ll use up those you’ve had at home for a longer time and that have no other use.
The recipe is old and time-tested, it will surprise you
For this recipe prepare:
- 1 kg potatoes
- 100 g bacon
- 5 cloves of garlic
- 5/7 sprigs of dill
- Salt to taste, including for the fat
For the recipe choose potatoes that are the smallest and among the young ones. You can choose those that have a slightly sweet taste and a crumbly interior. First, thoroughly clean the potatoes and leave the skin on them. Cut the bacon into cubes, which will give the potatoes a great flavor.
Put the bacon in a pan and melt all the fat out of it over low heat. Remove the formed cracklings from the pan and set them aside, because they are also excellent! Put the washed potatoes into the pan and cover with a lid. Steam for 5-7 minutes over low heat.
Potatoes go well with grilled or roasted vegetables
Then remove the lid, increase the heat, and fry the potatoes on all sides until golden. The potatoes must be fried very quickly, for 4-5 minutes. The finished potatoes only need to be salted, sprinkled with finely chopped dill, and don’t forget to add the garlic. The aroma of potatoes prepared this way is absolutely perfect.
You can pair the potatoes with well-prepared meat, but they also go well with roasted or grilled vegetables. In this case you can use the potatoes however you like; they will be tasty with sour cream mixed with grated cucumber, garlic, and dill. You can also season the finished potatoes with other spices—always to your taste—so you can have a different side dish each time, not only for meat.
