Household

Save on heating! The window manufacturer won't tell you about this trick for plastic windows!

With the onset of cold weather, the question of insulating the dwelling becomes more important than ever. Windows - that is what you must insulate first.

Did you know there is such a thing as a summer and winter mode for plastic windows? If not, we will gladly reveal this secret to you!

It is an economical solution and is especially useful in households without central heating, or in situations where it is already cold outside but not yet completely warm inside.
The trick is that the seasonal mode of plastic windows can be changed.

Seasonal window mode

a very useful thing, because in summer this option allows you
to release the pressure between the outer frame and the rubber seal, which allows air to circulate more freely.
In winter, however, it works the other way around - the pressure increases, keeping the heat
inside.

seasonal adjustment

First you need to determine whether your windows can change seasonal mode. To do this, you should look for the so‑called screws on the side of the window sash. If there is a hole for a square key or it has an oval shape, it can be seasonally adjusted.

You should turn this screw to the right or left by 90 degrees, depending on which mode you need. Do all of this carefully and cautiously. First, find all the screws on the sash; their number can vary depending on the size of the window or the manufacturer. You must turn every screw, because otherwise you will not achieve the desired result.

To change the window mode, you need a suitable tool - a screwdriver or a square key. You can also use pliers, but we do not recommend it, because you can damage the fragile adjustment mechanism. It is important to understand one thing: you do not have to turn the screw all the way to the stop.

The screw will keep moving and you should turn it exactly 90 degrees, focusing on the mark that will be your guide for correct adjustment. If you did everything correctly, the window handle should move more firmly.

Plastic windows are a comfortable and practical thing that requires care. At least once a year you should lubricate all moving parts of the window frame with a small amount of oil and also check how tightly the screws are fastened.
