Healthy eating has recently become quite a big topic and more and more people are starting to embrace it. On the other hand, a significant portion of the population does not choose an ideally composed diet for themselves or for their children.
In the composition of often or even daily consumed unhealthy food, the following are therefore largely represented:
· fats,
· sugars, and
· sodium.
Few people realize how much this harms their health in the long term, not only their own but also their children’s health, for whom parents themselves buy these unhealthy, even harmful foods.
One of the organs that suffers most from the lifestyle described above is the kidneys, whose primary role is to filter toxic substances and remove them from the body. If they are systematically overburdened, their function can become impaired or even completely lost, at which point dialysis becomes necessary.
To avoid finding yourself in a situation where your kidneys stop functioning properly, we list the most common examples of incorrect behavior, reducing which can significantly improve your health.
Too little fluid intake
As already stated above, the kidneys ensure the removal of harmful substances from the body. To perform this indispensable role, they need fluid, i.e. urine. However, if a person does not drink enough, the detoxifying, cleansing function of the kidneys will logically worsen and such a person will be more exposed to the risk of disease. In addition, kidney stones may begin to form in the kidneys.
Too much sodium
Not only excessive sugar and fats, but also sodium is clearly dangerous for the kidneys. If you salt too much or regularly consume foods with a high salt content, you increase the amount of sodium in the urine, which can, similarly to dehydration, lead to the formation of kidney stones. Excessive amounts of sodium also raise blood pressure, which is undesirable.
Alcohol without moderation
We usually associate kidney dysfunction with alcoholism. However, alcohol does not have to be a textbook case of alcoholism to impair kidney function; excessive, regular consumption of alcohol is sufficient. Outwardly, in some cases it may seem that the person has no health problems as a result of drinking, but in similar cases it can even lead to chronic kidney failure.
Caffeinated drinks as the basis of your drinking routine
Excessive caffeine consumption puts a strain on the kidneys and has a negative effect on their function. It also causes an undesirable increase in blood pressure. The problem is especially when some people, feeling thirsty, reach more for a caffeinated drink than for water, for example.
