This year will be full of changes at the Lidl retail chain that customers themselves will feel. One of the main points is the modernization of existing stores. Changes will also concern the products Lidl offers its customers, such as eggs from caged systems or plastic products. A major change is also planned for employees regarding their wages.
Changes at Lidl
Lidl has been continuing the modernization of its stores for several years. The changes are aimed at ensuring shopping conditions meet customers’ ever-changing demands and also at optimizing the working environment for its employees.
At the same time the company will open completely new stores in new locations.
Eggs from caged systems
The retail chain is also focusing on storage and the technologies it uses.
Significant changes will also occur within the assortment, for example a change regarding eggs from caged systems.
“The restriction on the sale of eggs from caged systems will now begin. According to the plan, we should stop selling eggs from caged systems no later than 2025. We already offer our customers eggs from barn systems.”
Plastics
Lidl also promises its customers that there will be a significant reduction in the use of single-use plastics among private suppliers. The use of these plastics should decrease by 20%.
Already this year, the sale of single-use plastics such as straws, cups, cutlery, plates, or cotton swabs for ears will be discontinued in Lidl stores.
“Instead of these goods you will sell goods made from other recyclable materials.”
Another step to reduce consumption of single-use plastics is limiting single-use cutlery or straws with other products such as fresh foods intended for immediate consumption.
Wages
The changes will also concern employees’ wages, which will increase once again.
If a sales assistant works at Lidl on a 40-hour contract, they will receive a gross salary of 31,429 crowns.
