Most of you probably imagined a kitchen knife. However, today we will not be talking about those. Let us focus on knives that serve as outdoor helpers, and also on those that are used as weapons. They were used in combat long before firearms and are still used today.
Knife-making also has a long tradition here. You probably know the brand Mikov, which began as a maker of knives, pipe mouthpieces, files, sickles, scythes and tobacco pouches. Today it sells, among other things, office supplies, but it is very well known for its knives.
Swiss knives are world-famous
Even Mikov knives are known abroad, but they do not have the fame of the Victorinox brand. This name may mean nothing to you, but you definitely know their product: the Swiss knife. Nowadays a good Swiss Army knife can handle many tasks; it often even contains a nail file and tweezers, so women are not left out. The Victorinox brand, besides the good idea of making a multifunctional knife, also scores with quality. Their knives are also used by the Swiss Army.
Knives and pocket knives for travel
Besides the kitchen, most ordinary people also use knives outdoors while traveling. In almost every Czech household you would find either a Swiss knife or at least a pocket folding knife. Some enthusiasts have a model made specifically for their favorite activity – for example a mushrooming knife with bristles and a special edge for cleaning the cap.
Knives as weapons
In this case it is mainly throwing knives and throwing stars. These can be bought today as well; throwing knives are even manufactured by the Czech company Mikov, for example. They are used as sporting or recreational tools, or in theater and performances. They are not an expensive item; they will set you back a few hundred. On the other hand, a machete does not have to be used only for fighting. Many use it to tidy the garden or to clear very overgrown areas.
