Most of you probably pictured a kitchen knife. However, that will not be the subject today. Let’s focus on knives that serve as outdoor helpers, and also on those used as weapons. They were used in combat long before firearms and are still used today.
Knifemaking has a long tradition here as well. You probably know the Mikov brand, which began as a maker of knives, pipe mouthpieces, files, sickles, scythes and tobacco pouches. Today it sells, among other things, office supplies, however it is very well known for its knives.
Swiss knives are world-famous
Even knives Mikov are known in foreign countries, but they do not have the fame of the Victorinox brand. Perhaps this name means nothing to you, but you definitely know their product, the Swiss Army knife. Today a good Swiss one can handle many tasks; often it even contains a nail file and tweezers, so women are not left out. The Victorinox brand, however, scores not only with the good idea of making a multifunctional knife but also with quality. Their knives are also used by the Swiss army.
Knives and pocketknives for trips
Aside from the kitchen, most ordinary people also use knives outdoors on trips. In almost every Czech family you would find either a Swiss Army knife or at least a pocket folding knife. Some enthusiasts have a model specifically intended for their favorite activity – for example a mushrooming knife with bristles and a special edge for cleaning the cap.
Knives as combat tools
In this case it is mainly about throwing knives and throwing stars. These can be bought today as well; throwing knives are manufactured, for example, by the Czech company Mikov. They are used as sporting or recreational tools, or as props in theatres and performances. They are not an expensive matter; they will cost you a few hundred. On the other hand, a machete need not serve only for fighting. Many use it to improve the garden or to clear very overgrown areas.
All of the above and many other knives can be found in the assortment of the e-shop Kentaurzbrane.cz.
