Once a person falls ill, they start searching for all sorts of ways to get their health back to „normal“. Suddenly they learn a lot of new information about what to eat and what not to eat. Often they begin to avoid medications and switch to natural medicine. They start choosing healthy foods and avoid the „bad“ ones. Eggs, in particular, fall into the category of foods that have been vilified, and it turns out they are beneficial to health. So what is the real story with eggs?
Eggs do not raise cholesterol
„Now watch out, eggs for cholesterol, that’s the worst thing there could be!“ That’s probably what everyone thinks who has a problem with cholesterol and avoids eggs like the devil avoids the cross. Earlier studies indeed discouraged the consumption of yolks, which increase bad cholesterol. However, the latest studies contradict this claim. It turns out that when cholesterol-rich foods are consumed, our body actually reduces its natural production of cholesterol. Ideally, consume eggs from home flocks. If you know someone who keeps chickens, don’t hesitate to turn to them.
Only diabetics need to be cautious
Studies have shown that 70 % of people who ate eggs regularly had no cholesterol-related problems, and among the remaining 30 % a decrease in the so-called “bad cholesterol” was observed. The only segment of people who were adversely affected by daily egg consumption were diabetics. In this case an increased risk of heart disease was observed. Eggs are truly healthy and we should not avoid them. They are a good source of protein, quality fats, and are rich in riboflavin, selenium and vitamins. The yolk is particularly rich in vitamins A, D, E, K, as well as carotenoids, calcium and iron.
One food doesn’t make you healthy
A person should above all stick to the golden rule that less is actually more. Don’t overdo any one food and try to eat a varied diet. Don’t get stuck on one or two potentially healthy foods and eat them over and over. There are known cases where excessive use of garlic damaged the stomach lining, or conversely where too much raw vegetables damaged the digestive system. So don’t clutch your head if you feel you’re not eating perfectly healthily. Even overly healthy eating can cause quite a mess. Take common sense in one hand, and a boiled egg in the other!
