Reaching the age of fifty is a fairly big milestone in a person’s life. Many changes begin – unfortunately also health-related ones. And sadly for the worse. Joints in particular take a real beating and even the smallest movement can start to hurt. Joint pain is contributed to not only by age, but also by other factors, such as being overweight. Sometimes young people complain about these pains too, for example those who excessively strain their joints (for instance through sports).
Causes of joint pain
There can be many causes. One of them is, unfortunately, increasing age and excess weight, as we already mentioned. While there is not much we can do about age, we can influence our diet and get rid of excess weight. Sometimes the cause can be an injury, an improper diet, or even illnesses. So we can fight some factors, but unfortunately not others. If possible, it is always better to remove the cause than the consequence itself, which in this case is joint pain.
Home remedy for aching joints
Joint ointments that you can buy in pharmacies are more or less effective – it depends, of course, on the brand. However, they can be very expensive, and not everyone can afford to use them regularly. Fortunately, there are home remedies for joint pain that we can prepare ourselves. They save us money and also work just as well as commercial ones.
Ingredients
Here is everything you will need to prepare a homemade remedy for aching joints:
- 1 liter of water,
- 1 teaspoon of sage,
- 1 teaspoon of mint,
- 1 teaspoon of rosemary,
- 1 teaspoon of thyme.
Preparation
For safety, boil the water a day in advance. The next day bring the water to a boil and add all the herbs. Boil for another 3 minutes. Then remove from the heat, cover, and leave covered for about 20 minutes. The infusion prepared this way will keep in the refrigerator for a maximum of 5 days, after which a new infusion will need to be prepared. The overall treatment lasts three to four weeks, no longer. Although herbs are a natural method, they are nevertheless very strong, and if not used properly, they can also cause harm.
How to use
Take this drink twice a day, one cup each time. Have it in the morning on an empty stomach, and in the evening about half an hour before bed. Appropriate exercise also helps against joint pain, and it is good to perform it under the supervision of a specialist. Incorrect exercise can actually do more harm than good.
