Who has children knows what a stress it is, especially for the mother, when children fall ill. Of course, the first step is a consultation with a doctor, who will prescribe the necessary medicines and may also advise on other procedures that can help, such as compresses.
Let’s learn from the past
On the other hand, there is a whole body of experience from previous generations for whom medical care was not so easily available. The times when people often had to manage on their own, without a doctor, are not that long ago. Many then turned to nature, which they observed all their lives, lived in close harmony with, and were able to find help in it in various situations.
So how can you help your child who has a cold, an elevated temperature or even a fever, is distressed and cannot sleep? Try a rather unconventional solution that is very simple and surprisingly effective.
Potato as a remedy
There are several articles on the internet that discuss this procedure, and those who have tried it say that it really works. In 2014, for example, the author of one blog confided to her readers that when her child was ill and suffering from a fever, she tried a tip she had been given and placed a slice of potato about 3 mm thick into both of his socks. Surprisingly, the child’s temperature soon actually began to drop. The child slept, with potato slices in the socks, and the fever gradually subsided. The blog author also covers other natural aids in treating children, for example
- mint, or
- onion.
Those interested in natural treatment can easily find her blog and follow it.
On a personal profile on one of the most widespread networks a mother shared that while searching for ways to ease her sick little son, she came across the potato method. She decided to try it and shared the course and result with her friends. She wrote that the little one had a cold, so she placed potato slices in his socks around nine o’clock in the evening. The son coughed during the night, but nevertheless fell into a deep sleep and slept through. When his mother removed the potato slices from his socks after 12 hours, she found that they had turned black. She deliberately kept the remainder of the potato so she could compare its surface and color with the slices that had been in the socks, and she also shared photos documenting the difference. Most importantly, her little son recovered quickly thanks to this procedure and felt better and better each day.
If you search the internet, you will find that there are many similar positive responses to the effectiveness of this method.
Next time your child gets sick, maybe you’ll try it too.
