Today we will focus on drinking habits. The best option, of course, is to drink plain water. I believe most people will agree with me. There is nothing better than drinking a glass of fresh cold water. Especially if you want to be healthy and want your body to be sufficiently hydrated. Water is very useful and necessary, and if you drink it regularly in sufficient amounts, it also serves as a prevention against many diseases.
Water before a meal or after a meal?
Research into the use of water with regard to the human body is nothing new and has been practiced for several years. So far, however, scientists have not been able to determine which is better: to drink water before a meal or to drink water only after a meal. As is often the case, both options have their advantages and now we look at them.
Water before a meal
If you drink before a meal, your body will feel somewhat satiated and you will eat less. Your stomach is partially filled with water and therefore you do not have to eat as much, i.e. you do not feel such a big hunger. However, the best is when you drink plain water or mineral water. It is not recommended to drink sweetened beverages or drinks that are too cold or too hot.
A glass of water before a meal also cleanses the body of toxins, supports the function of the lymphatic system, improves metabolism, and cleans the stomach and intestines.
Water provides the necessary moisture. This means the following: after sleep your body is dehydrated, even if you may not realize it. That is why it is important to drink a sufficient amount of water before breakfast. It will give you a new boost and enough energy to start the day and your metabolism will be renewed over time.
Water after a meal
Water also helps with digestion. For a long time, however, experts thought that water hinders good digestion. This myth is popular even among ordinary people. Recent scientific studies, however, have shown that water actually aids the digestion process. In addition, when you drink a glass of plain water after a meal, the nutrients you consumed in the food will be absorbed into the body more quickly and better, and the body will be able to use the energy taken in more effectively.
So how is it, then?
Both options have their merits and therefore you will not do wrong if you drink both before and after a meal. Drinking water is useful and necessary and when you drink is up to you. There is no rule about when and how much water to drink. Every person has built into them something otherwise called thirst, which is a signal sent from the brain that says fluids need to be replenished. The other rules about water are just myths that people probably invented. If you consume enough water, you will always be in good condition, you will be in a good mood and your body will thank you — your brain, hair, skin, and even nails.
