Ashley Hardacre from Michigan worked in a store. She finished work late in the evening and then went to her car. As she approached the car, she noticed a shirt tucked under the windshield wiper. Ashley immediately remembered a story her parents had told her. Maybe that saved her from a tragedy and now she warns others:
What happened?
“As many of you know, I work at a shopping center. After work we always walk with my colleagues together to make sure nothing bad happens to any of us in the parking lot. We all got into our cars and on mine I noticed a blue flannel shirt. Two other cars were parked next to mine and one was running. That worried me. I quickly got into the car and didn’t even want to touch the shirt. It looked like someone had tossed it there randomly. But then I noticed that someone had carefully tucked it under the car’s wiper.”
This isn’t the first time
“Lately there have been many cases where someone places a shirt on a car’s windshield to lure a woman out. It was meant to distract. The police have recorded several cases of disappearances. My parents told me the same thing the day before at dinner. That’s why I left the shirt there. The car with the running engine also seemed suspicious to me. I walked away to a safe place where there were many people and removed the shirt.
I don’t know why someone did it, but I had great difficulty taking the shirt off the wiper. Since then I always ask someone from security to accompany me to the car. Girls, be careful!”
Ashley acted very sensibly.
