You can wonderfully use the young leaves of the walnut tree for your health. You don’t have to wait until the fruits ripen – you can perfectly make use of these green leaves as well.

They have tremendous benefits for your health – the simplest way is to make tea, an infusion from them, or simply add them to your bath.

What a walnut leaf can do

  • It is an excellent remedy for the stomach, improves digestion, clears mucus in the stomach and intestines, cleanses them of parasites and generally strengthens the body.

Recipes from walnut leaves:

Walnut leaves are collected from May to August, when they are green.

Tincture to speed up digestion

Walnut leaves can also be taken in the form of a tincture: ½ a teaspoon before main meals for 15 days.

It is prepared as follows:

  • Place 2 tablespoons of dried, finely chopped walnut leaves into a glass container.
  • Pour 100 ml of alcohol over them.
  • Close the container and let it stand for 10 days.
  • Shake the container several times a day.
  • Strain the tincture through gauze and let it rest for another 6 days in the refrigerator.
  • Carefully decant and store in stoppered bottles.
  • Label and keep in a dark place. The tincture will keep for 2 years.

Infusion for tired eyes and eye inflammation

  • Boil the dried walnut leaves for two minutes in boiling water and then let them steep for another 20 minutes.
  • After cooling, filter the infusion through a clean cloth.
  • Immerse gauze squares in the infusion and apply them to the closed eyelids for approximately 10-20 minutes.
  • Repeat this several times a day using the same infusion, which you slightly reheat each time.

Walnut extract

  • Pour half a liter of alcohol over one hundred grams of crushed fresh green husks or walnut leaves and 5 grams of finely chopped almonds.
  • Let it macerate at room temperature for 2 – 3 weeks, shaking occasionally.
  • Drink one small glass daily on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning, to improve digestion, for intestinal mucus, parasites, or as a healthy aperitif.

Walnut leaf tea

It’s simple:

  • Pour ¼ liter of boiling water over a heaped teaspoon of chopped walnut leaves and let it steep briefly.

Such a tea strongly purifies the blood; it benefits the body in digestive troubles, loss of appetite, intestinal parasites, as well as in jaundice and even in diabetes.

It also slightly lowers blood pressure. When used as a mouthwash it helps in the treatment of gum and oral cavity inflammations.
