When cleaning windows we usually focus on the window panes and make sure they are clean and streak-free. In the process of washing and polishing the panes we also wipe the frames, especially when there is visible dust or stains on them.

Prevention of unwanted moisture buildup

What people often forget, however, is the moisture that can settle especially in modern plastic windows. The penetration of water into the window system is promoted especially by

  • mold, and
  • dust particles.

As a prevention against undesirable accumulation of moisture in windows, it is especially advisable to wipe the washed window and frame with a dry cloth. The greatest attention should be paid to the lower part of the frame, where all moisture naturally gathers due to gravity, particularly at the junction of the window glass and the frame.

Recipe for an effective homemade window cleaner

We bring you a recipe for a window cleaner whose main asset is not only its effectiveness but also the fact that, thanks to its composition, it penetrates even hard-to-reach places and thus ensures their cleanliness.

You will only need baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. The advantage of baking soda (also known as sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda) is that it not only has cleaning abilities but also bleaching effects. Hydrogen peroxide also has bleaching properties and, in addition, disinfecting effects. For safety reasons it is recommended to use only a 3% solution at home. Precisely because of the similarity and complexity of their effects, the combination of these substances creates such a great cleaning agent.

First comes the baking soda, which you sprinkle on all the places that are dirty. Then apply hydrogen peroxide to these spots and let these substances work together for several minutes. After that, simply wipe off this emulsion with a paper towel or a cotton cloth.

Another undeniable advantage of this remedy is its neutral scent and also the fact that it contains no chemicals.

We can only recommend using it for deep cleaning your windows at least twice a year.
