Most gardeners grow their own produce mainly so they can have a healthy harvest without chemical spraying, living off unnecessary chemical fertilizers. Today we will therefore introduce the most effective natural fertilizers for tomatoes that benefit them and won’t harm you. One plant can, thanks to this nourishment, yield up to 10x more!
1. Poultry droppings
Poultry manure works on tomatoes better than mineral fertilizer: it contains a lot of nitrogen and phosphorus.
It is very effective to use fresh poultry manure diluted with water. Fill 1/3 of a bucket (10 l) with poultry manure and then pour water to the brim. Leave the mixture outdoors for 7 – 10 days, then dilute 500 ml of the mixture in 10 l of water. Pour this liquid onto the tomatoes in an amount of 5 – 6 liters per 1 m2.
2. Manure
It is advisable to alternate a manure solution with other remedies. This fertilizer is prepared very simply as well: fill 1/2 a bucket with manure, cover it with a lid and let it stand for 1 week in a warm place. Then stir the solution well and dilute with water in a ratio of 1:10. Use 0.5 – 1 l of fertilizer under each tomato bush.
3. Nettle
The fertilizer is made primarily from young leaves: they contain a lot of nitrogen, potassium and iron.
Fill 2/3 of a container with nettles (its size depends on the amount of fertilizer needed for your garden), then pour water, but not to the very top, cover with a lid and let it stand in a warm place for about 7 – 10 days. At the beginning of the fermentation process, dilute 1 l of the solution in 10 l of water and pour the obtained fertilizer around the roots of the tomatoes, giving each plant about 1 – 2 liters. However, do not use this fertilizer too often – about 1 – 2 times a month is enough.
