From one of the most beautiful five-star hotels in Austria, where I once worked, I received this great tip. Every day the hotel has a huge amount of laundry and it was cleaned completely without chemicals.
Laundry without chemicals
However, when you opened the wardrobe and took out the laundry, you could smell lavender — it was something amazing.
The laundry smelled for a long time and because of the intense scent of lavender there were no problems with moths or other pests. That’s why I use this trick at home and I can’t praise it enough, and I’d like to share with you how to do it!
Lavender balm
When the laundry is ironed, it is immediately refreshed by this soft balm. Then you put the laundry into the wardrobe and sprinkle it directly onto the laundry in the closet. Believe me, you’ll stop buying regular products.
You will need
- 2 ½ cups of water
- 4 tablespoons of dried lavender
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil
- 2 tablespoons of vodka or another clear alcohol
- Spray bottle
Process
First we’ll make lavender tea. Heat 1 cup of water, add the dried lavender and let it boil. Remove from the heat and let it steep for 5 minutes.
Then boil the rest of the water and pour it into the bottle. When it cools a bit, add the vodka and essential oil. Finally add the lavender tea, which you strain through a sieve.
Application
During ironing apply the mixture to the laundry or after ironing, depending on how much you need to soften the laundry. You can also spray it in the wardrobe. This water is also great for freshening seats, carpets, curtains, etc.
