Among traditional Christmas cookies, vanilla crescents undoubtedly belong. These small crescents coated in powdered sugar are sweet, soft and delicious, and they taste not only to your little ones but also to the rest of the family. Be inspired by a great recipe and bake sweet vanilla crescents for your household too.

Vanilla crescents are not only a traditional Christmas cookie but also a favorite for wedding feasts and wedding favors. They are not only pretty to look at but also very delicious and baked from a soft dough that appeals to everyone. This versatile kind of cookie can be used not only at Christmas.

Any home cook can bake vanilla crescents

The recipe for the most delicious vanilla crescents is not difficult at all. You just need to follow the procedure exactly and not forget any important ingredients. For the dough prepare:

  • 380 g plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 150 g ground walnuts
  • 200 g margarine

Mix all the ingredients in one bowl and knead carefully until a dough consistency is achieved. Let the finished dough rest in the fridge for at least one hour. After an hour take the dough out of the fridge and divide it into eight equal parts. Roll each portion on the work surface into 30 cm long rolls, which you then cut into smaller sticks.

Bend the sticks to get the desired crescent shape. Place them all on a baking tray lined with baking paper; this batch of dough is enough for two full trays. Bake the arranged crescents at 180 °C for approximately 8 — 10 minutes.

The finishing touch of the recipe is important

After baking, it is necessary to coat the still-hot crescents in sugar. Add vanilla sugar to the powdered sugar for an even more delicious taste, and if you want to make the recipe even more interesting, add, for example, cinnamon sugar. Throughout Advent every family member will then enjoy the most delicious vanilla (or perhaps cinnamon?) crescents that literally smell of the Christmas season.
