Can you not imagine a morning without a cup of good coffee? If you consume coffee before breakfast itself and cannot imagine starting your day any other way, your body suffers greatly. Scientists have found that coffee on an empty stomach is very dangerous for your overall health.
Coffee is one of the best antioxidants
It is generally known that coffee does not harm our health; on the contrary, it helps the body deal with toxic components. Experts, however, say that consuming coffee on an empty stomach definitely does not do your health any favors.
One of the main problems is certainly the level of acids in the body. Drinking coffee immediately after waking helps increase the level of stomach acids. Long-term elevation of these levels harms your health and can even contribute to the development of stomach ulcers or gastritis.
Another problem that arises from drinking coffee on an empty stomach is an increased level of cortisol. The level rises very quickly after drinking coffee and remains elevated for almost the entire day before returning to its normal level. Coffee consumed on an empty stomach also causes bloating and nausea in the first hours of the day.
If you want to mitigate these possible complications, add other ingredients to your coffee
Although you often read on the internet that it is not good to consume coffee with milk, in this case it is actually much more appropriate. To get something into your stomach besides just strong black coffee and thereby avoid the aforementioned problems, it is advisable to add milk to your coffee. It is up to you whether you add regular cow’s milk or one of the plant-based ones. For example, coconut or almond milk is an excellent option.
For a healthier coffee, you can also add a pinch of cinnamon. It will mellow the strong and bitter taste of the coffee and enrich your cup with another portion of healthy ingredients.
It still holds true that the best option is a healthy breakfast. So don’t forget to prepare a tasty and hearty breakfast alongside your coffee, which will not only help your health but also your immunity. In addition to these beneficial effects, a large and substantial breakfast will help give you a lot of energy that you will certainly use throughout the day.
