The microwave oven is an indispensable helper in every kitchen. Rapid heating or grilling is a great way to save time, but it also has a drawback – the interior of the oven quickly becomes clogged with grease, food residues and unpleasant odors. If you don’t clean it regularly, dirt accumulates and removing it becomes somewhat more difficult.
Fortunately there are many ways to effectively clean the microwave oven. One of the simplest and surprisingly effective methods is to use wet wipes.
Most common methods for cleaning the microwave oven
For cleaning you can use:
- Special cleaning sprays – designed specifically for microwaves.
- Vinegar – effective on grease and odors.
- Baking soda – a natural cleaning agent.
- Wet wipes – a simple and effective solution.
Cleaning the microwave oven using wet wipes
This method is less known but very practical. You don’t need any chemical products or special tools. All you need is a pack of wet wipes, which you can probably find in every household.
Step-by-step procedure
-
Preparing the wipes
Take out approximately 10 wet wipes. We recommend using baby wipes, which are larger and stronger. -
Heating in the microwave oven
Spread the wipes on the turntable in the oven. Set the regular heating mode to 2 minutes. The moisture from the wipes will heat up and transfer to the inner surface of the oven. -
Cleaning the oven
After turning off the oven, put on gloves (for safety) and use the warmed wipes to wipe the inner walls. The heat and moisture will help loosen grease and dirt, so you can easily wipe them away without using additional products. -
Finishing
Finally, wipe the interior with a dry cloth so that the oven remains perfectly clean and dry.
Advantages of this method
- Speed and simplicity – you can clean it in a few minutes.
- Minimal cost – baby wipes are cheap and versatile.
- Chemical-free – ideal for households with children or allergy sufferers.
Useful tip
If you have an older microwave oven, make sure to clean it regularly so it serves you as long as possible. With this method, cleaning becomes child’s play and your oven will always be like new!
