If you have an excess amount of eggs that you won’t manage to use up, freeze them. It sounds strange, but you can really extend their shelf life that way.

It’s safer to freeze food than to use it when you’re no longer sure whether it’s still usable.

Rotten eggs smell unpleasant and it’s also a waste of money. With our simple egg-freezing tricks you can save money and still enjoy your eggs.

Don’t freeze eggs in the shell

The basic rule number one is that eggs in the shell cannot be frozen. You always need to crack them into some container. A suitable alternative is an ice cube tray. If you have an ice cube tray large enough, then you can freeze your eggs one per cube. However, if a whole egg doesn’t fit into a single cube, it’s good to beat the eggs first in a bowl and then pour them into the tray. Remember how many ice cubes make up one egg, it will make later cooking with the eggs easier.

Not just eggs but also fruit

You can also freeze other things you might not be used to, such as fruit. When fruit is in season there is a lot of it. That’s why it’s good to preserve this fruit for later. For example, sliced. This can be oranges, apples, pears and other fruit. Slice them and lay the slices out on a tray to freeze. Then you can put them together in a bag — the point is to prevent the slices from sticking together during freezing. You can then easily add these slices to your favorite lemonade whenever you feel like it.

Clear ice cubes

Don’t understand how it is possible that a restaurant serves you a drink with perfectly clear ice cubes? Think they have a special machine for it? They don’t. And the good news is that you can make perfectly clear cubes at home too. Just boil the water twice before freezing it.

Ketchup

If you have leftover ketchup or other similar sauces after grilling, you can freeze them. They taste the same after thawing.
