Limescale and soap stains are the nightmare of almost every woman in the household. Bathrooms and shower enclosures need to be cleaned often, precisely so that limescale does not take hold. Removing it is one of the most unpleasant types of household chores.
You can beat limescale with a simple trick
In drugstores you can find plenty of different products for removing limescale and soap scum. Even if you clean the bathroom thoroughly, taps and faucets can remain dirty and untidy. Hygiene is especially important in these areas.
Many women have found that one food item works against limescale, and that is the lemon. You can buy it everywhere in shops and it is a unique companion. In winter you can eat it to prevent colds and in summer it can refresh you. But you can also use lemon for tasks such as removing limescale.
Our grandmothers’ tricks also help
Lemon is not the only ingredient that can help you remove limescale in the household. Limescale also builds up in electric kettles; just boil water with a deciliter of vinegar or a spoonful of citric acid, let it stand for a while and the limescale will dissolve.
Vinegar will also serve to clean the toilet: pour in a whole liter if you like, let it act and after a few hours just scrub with the toilet brush. Besides lemon, you can also use a vinegar solution on taps. The same ingredient helps against limescale in the washing machine. There you only need to add a liter of vinegar once a month and then „wash“ at 90 degrees. You can also use vinegar for every wash because it disinfects.
Another option is kitchen wet wipes. If you wipe off limescale with them, use a dry cloth afterwards to polish. You’ll be surprised at what such wipes can do. Of course you can also buy proven products from stores, but they may contain various chemical components that could damage taps or appliances.
If you clean the bathroom regularly, you’ll enjoy how clean it is and a few minutes of cleaning a day is the least you can do.
