Although aphids are small, they can quickly cause enormous damage. In the garden they attack potted plants, fruit trees and flowers. How do you deal with them? Here is an effective way to kill aphids and all insects!
How do aphids damage plants?
These small pests feed on plants, sucking a huge amount of sap from them, which causes the plant to die. Aphids can appear on garden flowers, in pots, vegetables and fruit trees. They are small (between 2 and 5 mm) but the speed at which they reproduce and begin an infestation is frightening. Aphids are often found in large clusters on plants; when they finish with one plant, they move to another. Fortunately you can prevent this with natural remedies!
Natural methods against aphids
Before you start any of the following methods, first collect all the aphids. Do this using gloves. You can also try removing them under a stream of running water. In addition, it is worth ensuring that seven-spot ladybugs appear in the garden, as they love aphids. Limit the use of chemical sprays and regularly use natural fertilizers. Ladybugs will come to your garden on their own.
Poppy milk
Mix milk and water in equal parts. Fresh milk will work best with this method, i.e. straight from the cow — then you can be sure that this method will definitely work. Carton milk may not be as effective as spraying with fresh milk.
Baking soda
Vinegar water
Vinegar is effective in fighting fruit flies and when cleaning the apartment. It turns out that it also works well for removing aphids. Mix with water in a 1:10 ratio. Remember to put the water in the bowl first and then pour in the vinegar. As with the baking soda method you can add a few drops of dishwashing liquid or 2 ml of gray soap to the solution.
Aphids on fruit trees
Fighting aphids on trees is very difficult and time-consuming. It’s worth planting mint, garlic or onion near the infected tree — the scent of these cuttings repels aphids. Also try to invite ladybugs into the garden.
Onion
Chop 2 onions into small pieces. Then pour 10 liters of water over them. Cook everything over low heat for half an hour. Now cool the broth and pour it into a spray bottle. Do this every 2–3 days until you see fewer and fewer insects appearing on the plant.
Garlic extract
Crush 200 grams of garlic in a press and pour over 10 liters of water. Let it sit for 24 hours and then pour the extract into a spray bottle. As with the onion decoction — use every 2–3 days until you see improvement.
