3. Unhappy middle-aged people – usually women who suffered from some mental health problems.
4. Wealthier healthy seniors – people generally in optimal health, who however had increased alcohol consumption and high blood pressure.
5. Physically ill but happy seniors – older people in good mental condition, who however suffered from chronic diseases such as osteoporosis.
6. Poor and sick people – usually poor people who were additionally troubled by a larger number of chronic illnesses.
The significance of this study was that the researchers took into account a range of factors, which greatly helps in addressing obesity problems.
Types of fat distribution on the body
There are two basic types of fat distribution on the body.
Android fat distribution is one that is more typical for men. It is the “apple” body shape, where the waist circumference is larger than the hips.
Gynoid fat distribution, on the other hand, is more typical for women. It is also called the “pear-shaped” body, where the circumference at the hips is larger than the waist circumference.
Types of fat and how to remove them
Now let’s look at how to remove fat depending on where it is located on the body.
Here are 6 types of body fat and ways to best get rid of them:
1. Fat in the upper part of the body (android)
This group usually includes people who eat a lot and have little physical activity. If this applies to you, limit your intake of sweets and exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
2. Fat concentrated around the waist (android)
Extra fat in the waist area often occurs as a result of depression, stress and anxiety. Therefore you should try some relaxation techniques (breathing, meditation) and exercise.
3. Fat on the hips, buttocks and thighs (gynoid)
This type of fat mainly affects women. Try leg exercises combined with cardio workouts.
4. Fat causing a protruding belly (android)
Fat concentrated on the abdomen is often a result of excessive alcohol consumption and poor breathing. Therefore reduce your alcohol intake and try breathing exercises. Whole-body workouts won’t hurt either.
5. Fat on the legs (gynoid)
This type of fat mainly affects pregnant women, who also often have swollen legs. Try water aerobics aimed at reducing pressure in the legs and joints. Also spend some time during the day with your legs elevated.
6. Fat on the abdomen and back (android)
The main culprit for this type of fat is a lack of physical activity. You must start exercising more and regulate your blood sugar levels. Also try to reduce the size of the portions you consume during the day.
Conclusion
If, despite the recommendations given here, you are unable to lose weight, check whether your overweight does not stem from genetic or hormonal imbalances.
In that case it is best to consult a nutritionist or a medical dietitian, who will help you solve your problem.
