We put strain on our feet every day, without exception. And if you wear high-heeled shoes daily, they suffer twice as much. One of the very unpleasant consequences of wearing unsuitable footwear is sore joints and the joint of the big toe, which deviates from the line of the foot. Toes squeezed in tight shoes and high heels put pressure on the lateral bone of the big toe, which for that reason develops painful bumps.

Many people have problems with this swelling today, especially women

A lot of them regularly visit doctors because of it, who in most cases don’t help much and only recommend surgery. You therefore have to keep dealing with unpleasant pain that often makes normal walking difficult. Besides, it doesn’t look good at all, so you can probably say goodbye to sandals during the summer. But there are easy methods you can try that cost nothing. They can only help you.

You will need:

  • hair ties,
  • comfortable shoes,
  • toe separators for pedicure,
  • a bit of time.

Simple yet effective exercise

We’ll start with something very easy that you can do while reading or watching TV. Sit down and take off your shoes. Place your feet comfortably on the floor. Raise your heels and hold for 10 seconds, then place them back on the floor. Repeat this ten times. Then similarly raise your toes and hold them in the air for 10 seconds. Repeat ten times. You can do this at work or at home. Simply anywhere you can take off your shoes.

Exercise with hair ties

Keep your feet on the floor and stretch hair ties over your big toes. You don’t need to overstretch them, but you should feel it. This method mobilizes the toes so they can position themselves correctly. In that case they will no longer be prone to swelling. It’s a very simple and basic exercise you can perform in the comfort of your home.

You can also use toe separators used in pedicures. You ask how? Simply sit down in the evening after work, put them between your toes after exercising and leave them there for ten to fifteen minutes. This will allow the toes, which have been pressed together inside the shoes all day, to spread. Believe that once you take them off again, you will feel much better and so will your feet.

Prevention is the easiest

It’s very simple. Wear comfortable shoes every day. No tight ballet flats and no high heels. Surely you have at least one favorite, gorgeous pair of shoes that are amazingly uncomfortable. Still you wear them because you look great and feel fantastic in them. But these are exactly the shoes that deform your feet the most and transform them into a state where you can hardly walk because of the pain.

Store the beautiful and uncomfortable shoes in the closet and save them only for special occasions

Instead, pull out wide footwear with a soft sole. No part of the foot should be under any pressure. According to research, so-called barefoot shoes are ideal, where you feel as if you aren’t wearing any shoes at all and the foot naturally adapts to the surface you’re walking on.
