Regular coffee drinking helps ward off a number of diseases including type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, but also colon and breast cancer. If you want to maximize the benefits of drinking coffee, we have a few foolproof tips for you that will make you enjoy your morning ritual even more.
1) First, drink a glass of water
Caffeine is a so-called diuretic. That means it dehydrates our body. We therefore have a tip for you: as soon as you wake up, go to the kitchen and have a glass of water. Remember that for every coffee you have during the day, you should drink at least a deciliter of water. That’s how they’ll serve it to you in good cafés as well.
It is the case that some people who drink a lot of coffee during the day don’t experience feelings of dehydration, and often don’t notice much of a stimulating effect either. However, if someone drinks coffee only occasionally and isn’t used to it, it will have a much stronger effect on them even if they drink just one, whereas for another person even four coffees a day won’t do anything.
2) Add butter to it
Want milk? STOP! Many people who drink coffee with sugar and milk don’t get enough energy and rather slump. Reason? Poor blood sugar management. According to clinical studies, the best stimulating effect is achieved by coffee with real, proper butter, and you can also add coconut oil. That way you get a real energy bomb. In addition, this combination kick-starts better fat burning. That’s much healthier for the body than if you have just a coffee-like drink full of sugar.
3) Don’t overdo it with sugar
We’ll stay on the subject of sugar a little longer. The American Heart Association recommends consuming no more than six teaspoons of sugar per day. Be careful what you scoop sugar with. It would be good to add it to coffee with an actual teaspoon. That way you’ll still be aware of how much sugar you’re consuming. If you put pre-sweetened milk and cream into the cup, skip the sugar.
