The author shared her tried-and-true homemade recipe for her mosquito repellent, which was initially used only at the cottage, but now she has it in every room at home. She doesn’t have any mosquito net at home, yet there are no flies or mosquitoes.
Great and ready within seconds
“For years I’ve been using an excellent homemade remedy – pour a whole bottle of white Alpa into an old shallow dish and add 20-30 cloves, I let the Alpa steep properly over time and it will brown (that’s fine) and it lasts me for the whole summer”
Non-toxic and really effective
All summer long, as long as we’re at the cottage, the doors are open and there are no mosquitoes, flies, not even wasps; if one happens to fly in, it’s easy to get it out of the cottage. Occasionally, when the Alpa evaporates, add more. I use this recipe at home because the spaces there are larger than the garden cottage; I put one in each room. I buy a large liter of Alpa and I’m fine all summer. It’s definitely better than buying chemical plug-in repellents or using other solutions.
