When growing any type of fruit or vegetable, it is necessary to take proper care. It is very important not only to weed the soil, but also to aerate it. During dry days you must water the soil a lot so the plants have enough water. It’s not just about the water itself, but also about the supply of nutrients.
Fertilize garlic at sunset and during its growth
How to grow real, strong garlic that you can use not only in the kitchen, but also for cleaning or making repellents or other preparations? The easiest is to plant the garlic and then just watch it grow. When you see the first leaves, give the plant a fertilizer that contains nitrogen. Dissolve a tablespoon of urea in ten liters of water and apply it to the garlic rows.
If you want to prevent the garlic leaves from yellowing, you can make a spray. Put a tablespoon of alcohol and 200 ml of milk into ten liters of water. Mix everything well, pour into a sprayer and spray the solution onto all the leaves. When the leaves are 10-15 centimeters high, sprinkle the garlic bulb with wood ash. You can use ash even when the heads appear. Otherwise you do not need to loosen or fertilize the soil around the garlic.
You need to harvest garlic before it over-dries
You can tell the right time to harvest garlic by its heads. When the previously curled ones start to straighten, you can harvest the garlic. Don’t let it fall apart or become over-dry. If that happens, it may be attacked by diseases. You can dry the garlic and then crush it as a dried spice that will be useful, for example, in soups or sauces.
Garlic will thrive in places that receive long hours of sunlight
You can leave 2-3 per row to dry, then finally load them into crates and let them finish drying indoors. You can store it for several months, but it needs a dark and cool place. It suits almost every dish; try it in spreads, salads, or as a great sauce for grilled meat.
