If you suffer from dry skin on your feet, the most common cause is dehydration. In such a case, suitable baths and especially treating the feet with a moisturizing cream will help. It is ideal to apply it at night, when the body is at rest and the cream therefore has the best chance to be properly absorbed. To further enhance the effects of the cream, you can also put on special moisturizing socks after applying it.

Sometimes the skin, especially on the heel, can crack. Heel cracks should be treated in time to prevent them from deepening and unwanted infection. There are creams for cracked skin on the feet that speed up its healing.

You should pay increased attention when the skin is also too dry in other areas of the body, especially between the toes, on the sole of the foot, or in the chest area.

Do not underestimate this phenomenon, because it can be a sign of more serious health problems.

Dehydration

A person should always keep track of how much fluid they have drunk and whether their drinking regimen is regular and sufficient. A lack of fluids, especially water, brings serious consequences, which include

· weight loss

· a persistent feeling of dryness in the mouth, and also

· overall weakness.

The skin is then often also very dry and, as a result, more easily vulnerable.

Fungal infections

Among the most common causes of the skin of the feet being attacked by fungi are putting on socks on not completely dried feet, contact of bare feet with the floor when sand or dirt gets on the skin of the feet, or a preference for closed shoes that a person does not take off for many hours. In addition to drying out the skin, fungi also cause unpleasant itching. A typical foot disease caused by fungi is mycosis, which particularly affects the nails.

Psoriasis, also known as lupénka

Psoriasis mainly affects the skin, but there is also a type that attacks the joints. On the surface of skin affected by psoriasis, reddish patches with silvery scales that flake off appear. Sometimes swelling, blisters, and skin cracking may also accompany them.

Dyshidrosis

Dyshidrosis is a skin condition characterized by small blisters that form on the feet as well, which are often filled with fluid and cause unpleasant, intense itching and, in some cases, pain.

If regular foot care does not bring improvement to your condition, you should contact your attending physician, who will assess your condition and either make a diagnosis himself or recommend that you visit a specialist, i.e., a dermatologist.
