Stress is today a part of everyday life for many of us. Its symptoms are varied and usually quite unpleasant.
Besides typical anxiety, stress also manifests with physical symptoms, such as:
- headaches
- lack of energy
- sleep disorders
- reduced immunity
- digestive problems
Traditional Chinese medicine is based on the understanding that there are certain stress points on the body. By stimulating them we can reduce stress and relax the body.
One of these points is called Shen Men and translates as “Heavenly Gate”.
Pressing this point will significantly reduce stress, increase energy, eliminate inflammation and strengthen immunity.
In addition, you can also relieve pain not only in the head but in any other part of the body.
The Shen Men point is located on the inner side of the upper part of the ear. Its main advantage is that it can be activated even with relatively light stimulation.
Instructions
1. Press the Shen Men point with a cotton swab for ear cleaning and begin to gently massage it.

2. Breathe deeply and listen to your breath.
3. While inhaling look to the left, while exhaling look to the right, but without moving your head.
4. After just a few minutes you will feel your body relax and the symptoms of stress decrease.
A few more tips
- If you don’t have a cotton swab, you can use your fingertips to massage.
- Massage the Shen Men point whenever you feel under a lot of stress.
- This process is suitable to perform daily before sleep.
The Shen Men point is located in both ears
It is enough to massage it in one ear, but for greater effect you can do both at once.
