Everyone knows it: a grater rusts or becomes dull over time and you have to buy a new one. But what to do with the old one if you feel bad about throwing it away? Many people simply throw away old and non-working items, mainly because they don’t have extra space in their apartment or house. Besides that, you can also use them in other ways: they can serve you in everyday tasks or you can turn them into a gift for your loved ones.

Prepare your tools and you can start; children can help too
You won’t need much to restore an old grater:
- Grater
- Acrylic paints according to your imagination
- Several hooks, small and large
- Pearls that you will glue onto the hooks
- Toothpick and a hot glue gun
Of course you’ll need brushes, a little water and also a bowl in which you will mix the paints. You can find the whole process in the video.
In short, it’s enough to screw hooks into the smaller grating holes, preferably also secure them with a hot glue gun. Then mix the color combination you want and paint the entire surface of the grater with a brush. Let the paint dry and meanwhile glue pearls onto the larger hooks. Use these decorated hooks as the little feet for your “new” jewelry box. Put as many hooks on the grater as you want so you can hang all your jewelry. With a toothpick you can create various shapes or ornaments on the grater or even write a dedication. And children can help you with the painting, which will make the jewelry box truly original.
