Watermelon is a part of the diet of almost every one of us during the hot summer months. Who wouldn’t like a properly chilled, juicy piece while relaxing in the garden, by the pool, or sitting outside in the evening with friends. The melon can be eaten on its own, in a fruit salad, with yogurt, or you can make an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink from it. It can be prepared in a thousand ways. The only thing that might put you off a little is cutting it. For inexperienced hands it can be quite a chore. Learn how to do it.

How to cut a melon easily and quickly (and without the mess)

A melon isn’t high in calories, it fills you up quickly and at the same time hydrates you. The bigger, the better. Don’t be intimidated by a larger piece! In today’s article we’ve prepared a guide for you on how to handle this round fruit without breaking a sweat. Melons can sometimes give us quite a hard time. At the same time we want to cut it so the pieces look nice. We’ll reveal a method that will have you done in no time. Prepare

  • a melon
  • a sharp knife
  • a cutting board

Two ways to cut

You should sharpen the knife before each use. If it’s really sharp, it will save you a lot of work. Watch your fingers! And let’s get started. Take the melon and clean it of any dirt. Cut it in half. Now you have two equally sized halves. Take the first one and place it on the cutting board. Now start cutting the melon into three-centimeter-thick slices along a vertical line. Turn it with the cutting board and do the same from the other side. You’ll get elongated blocks that you can pull out and nibble at will.

The second method is just as easy and quick as the first. Divide the melon into three roughly equal parts by cutting off the top, the middle and the bottom. Take the first part and cut it in half. Now cut lengthwise into further roughly three-centimeter-thick half-moons. Then cut those into smaller cubes.
