Many women surely know what we are talking about: you regularly wash, sweep, mop, vacuum and generally try to keep your home as clean as possible. Unfortunately, all your efforts are occasionally ruined by various spiders, ants and beetles that suddenly appear in your home and make your life unpleasant. Spiders in particular are a very unpleasant and repulsive insect that most women are also disgusted by. The problem is also that when spiders like a place, they can be rather difficult to get rid of. Of course you can buy a variety of insecticides, but their effect is often unfortunately only short-lived and most of them contain large amounts of chemicals, some of which can be harmful to health. Today we will advise you how to get rid of spiders and other insects using only natural remedies.

Peppermint – the enemy of all insects

One of the easy ways to prevent spiders and other insects from entering your house is to create a natural scent barrier in their path, especially around windows and doors. Mixing peppermint essential oil and water proves to be a very effective remedy; about ten drops of oil per half liter of water is sufficient. Apply this mixture with a spray to window and door frames, the terrace and into the corners of rooms. You will see that you will no longer encounter spiders at home. Other herbs that negatively affect insects are cinnamon and cloves. The reason is the presence of specific substances such as eugenol or menthol, which create an intense aroma that bothers insects but smells pleasant to people, so your home will not only be free of insects but also beautifully scented.

Lemons and chestnuts

Spiders also do not like the strong scent of lemon. For this reason it is recommended to place fresh lemon peel in places where spiders occur, again especially in the corners of rooms, near flower pots or behind furniture. According to folk advice, spiders also dislike chestnuts; try collecting a few outside in autumn and then place them, for example, on window sills.
