If you are interested in cosmetic trends, you know that more and more products intended to fight wrinkles and skin aging contain gelatin. The aim of these products is in particular
- to ensure that the skin appears smoother and younger
- to increase the skin’s elasticity
- to restore the balanced activity of the sebaceous glands, and
- to cleanse the pores.
Gelatin has such remarkable effects on skin rejuvenation that studies have been carried out comparing them to the effects of botox, a naturally occurring substance produced artificially, which is injected under the skin and causes it to smooth. While the process of applying botox is fairly expensive and needs to be repeated over time, gelatin works more slowly, but over the long term its effects are comparable to botox.
Another indisputable advantage of the gelatin method is the fact that you can easily use it at home and its application does not require professional assistance.
Beneficial effects of a homemade gelatin mask
The more the skin ages, the less collagen it contains, which needs to be supplied to the cells that form the skin to ensure its smoothness and elasticity. To replenish collagen you can of course use a whole range of specialized cosmetic products, but pure gelatin acts directly on the skin cells, supplies them with the necessary substances and with regular treatment the skin becomes smoother and also gains a lighter tone.
Clean skin as a base
Before you apply a gelatin mask to your face, it is necessary to clean the skin thoroughly and deeply. For this you can use, for example, a suitable cleansing gel or a clay mask. However, you can also make the cleansing mask yourself from a small amount of water, oats and a few drops of citrus juice, from orange, lemon or grapefruit. Mix the mixture well, apply to the face and leave to dry. Then moisten your fingers and gently massage the mixture into the skin. Afterwards remove the cleansing mask from the face with warm water.
Gelatin mask
After cleansing the skin comes the homemade gelatin mask, which you prepare by first making the gelatin according to the instructions and mixing it with a little glycerin. You have the base ready and for a better effect and a more pleasant scent add, for example, a little sandalwood oil, rosehip oil and grapeseed oil. Apply the prepared mask to the face (around the eyes and mouth) and also to the neck.
Lie on your back so that you feel comfortable, and relax for at least 15 minutes. Then rinse the mask off with warm water and if any residue still clings to your skin, use cold water to remove it.
