We all know how garlic affects the human body. Few people, however, know that garlic has a perfect effect on orchids as well. This bulb plant has a positive influence on their growth and flowering.
How to care for potted orchids
Garlic stimulates the flowering of the Phalaenopsis orchid.
To achieve this effect, we will advise you how to prepare a special mixture of garlic, water and succinic acid.
The last component will help stimulate the plant’s rooting, increase its resistance to pests and other adverse factors. If done correctly, new shoots should appear within 14 days.
Consider one important point – succinic acid dissolves in hot water. Only after the liquid has completely cooled should you add the crushed garlic.
It is also important to note that plain garlic water for dressing orchids can be stored for a relatively long time, but with the addition of succinic acid you will have to use this preparation within the next three days.
You will need
- 1 liter of water
- 3 cloves of garlic
- a jar
- 1 tablet of succinic acid
Procedure and preparation
Succinic acid dissolves in hot water.
Use a knife or a garlic press to crush the garlic. When the solution cools, add the garlic.
Place the solution in a jar and leave for 24 hours.
Application
Before watering the orchids, pass the garlic water through a sieve. Then dilute the resulting liquid with water in a bucket and use the partial immersion method for the plants. This method should be alternated with regular watering, but no more than once a month.
