  • water

Instructions:

  • Pour all 3 liters of vinegar into a watering can, add about 1/3 of a package of salt and a little dish soap.
  • Top up with water and stir.
  • Pour this solution over the weedy areas and within 2 days all the weeds will be destroyed.
  • Quick, effective and cheap preparation.
  • But beware, if you pour it on plants other than weeds, you’ll burn them too.

BEFORE

AFTER

Mechanical pulling of weeds is effective but laborious and time-consuming. That’s why we decided to make a list of cheap and effective ecological weed killers.

Vinegar

Vinegar is a natural herbicide without chemical substances.

Pour white vinegar into a sprayer and spray the weedy parts of your garden. But be careful and spray it only on weeds. Otherwise it will destroy your other plants. It is recommended to apply vinegar early in the morning, in sunny weather, because the sun’s rays increase the effect of this natural herbicide. Do not use before rain, or when the weather is overcast.

Boiling water

Hot water kills weeds almost instantly. It is ideal for cleaning corners around the entrance gate and steps, or areas that are full of dust and soil. Carefully pour hot water onto the unwanted plants. For plants with deeper roots you may need to repeat this process.

Vodka

Pull out the weeds and spray a little alcohol on the spot where they grew. You can try spraying alcohol directly on the weeds, but beware of other plants. It works simply — it dehydrates and burns the plants. Instead of vodka you can try another strong alcohol. Some sources recommend mixing a small amount of detergent into the alcohol and spraying this mixture directly on the weeds during a sunny, windless day.

Salt

A solution of salt and water can help you get rid of weeds.

Mix 1 part salt and 3 parts water. Pour the solution directly onto the weeds. For stubborn weeds you can sprinkle a little salt directly.

Baking soda

Baking soda is an excellent ingredient for killing weeds. Take a packet of baking soda and thoroughly sprinkle all areas affected by weeds. The advantage is that you don’t have to wait for ideal weather; you can use baking soda even when it is overcast and rain is not an obstacle. Repeat once a month.

Vinegar and dishwashing liquid

Mix 5 ml of dishwashing liquid and 1 liter of vinegar. Stir carefully and be careful not to create foam. This solution can be used, for example, on joints on a terrace or in a parking space.

Newspapers

Moisten the soil and then place a layer of newspapers over the weeds. Moisten it once more and cover with mulch. This prevents sunlight and therefore the weeds will not grow. It also provides a warm shelter for beneficial earthworms.

Cornmeal

Sprinkling your garden with cornmeal will prevent weed seeds from germinating. However, it will also prevent the germination of other seeds, so you should use this method only when your plants have already grown.
