Are you troubled that you have a hump? How could you not be, it’s hardly an aesthetic matter. Maybe you know exactly when it began to appear, maybe you only noticed it recently. If your hump, i.e. postural kyphosis, appeared only recently, there is hope that by following a few rules you can get rid of it. The most common causes of a hump are overweight, hormonal imbalance and poor posture. Besides not flattering your appearance, it can also cause pain and disturb blood circulation.
Train the neck and back muscles, massage them… and lose weight
One of the most effective tools for getting rid of a hump is massage. You should put yourself in the hands of a specialist who will show you how to warm up and then massage your muscles every day. But if you skip the exercises, even with diligent massage the problem will return. Visit a physiotherapist or look for instructional videos on the internet. Even simple side stretches of the head are very beneficial. Also take advantage of the relaxation a warm bath offers. It will help you relax before the massage and get in a pleasant mood. A chamomile bath is, for example, suitable. Bring half a glass of herbs to a boil, simmer, strain and pour into the tub. Compresses will perfectly prepare you for the massage. Moisten a terry towel with hot water and keep it on your neck for a quarter of an hour.
Prevention and support of correct posture will help
Regularity, discipline and focus on results are paramount. Only if you follow all the rules will you be able to enjoy the desired effect. So what should you do to make the results visible and lasting?
- If possible, reduce your weight and watch your diet.
- Sleep on an orthopedic mattress and on a soft pillow.
- Exercise regularly and stretch.
- Massage your neck every day.
- Focus on your posture, or visit a physiotherapist who will help you.
