Swollen legs affect a great many people. They appear especially on hot summer days, when the body is exposed to more demanding conditions than usual in terms of fluid regulation. The most common causes of swelling in the legs are being overweight, poor circulation in the limbs, or an unhealthy diet, but there can be many more reasons. Nevertheless, there are two quick and effective ways to combat swollen legs. You should, however, consider your overall health if you suffer from these problems.
Parsley tea
The easiest way to fight swollen legs is regular consumption of parsley tea. The parsley leaves and roots should be chopped finely, or crushed or ground. Put the prepared parsley into half a liter of boiling water, bring to a boil again and boil for about five minutes. Then let the tea cool and you can store it in the refrigerator for the rest of the day. You should drink parsley tea three times a day; one batch will yield three servings. It is best to drink the tea throughout the summer.
Massage with herbal oils
To reduce swelling, you can also massage the legs and feet with herbal oils. The best mixture for these purposes consists of:
- 25 ml rosemary oil
- 150 ml olive oil
You should rest before the massage and briefly afterward; this type of therapeutic massage should not be applied to muscles that are still under strain. Like parsley tea, the massage can also be merely preventative, so you can treat yourself to it in the morning when you know you have a demanding day ahead.
Treating swollen legs starts with removing the causes
Both of today’s methods are effective, but they do not remove the causes that make your legs swell. They are not miraculous methods that will cure your ailments. If you suffer from leg swelling, it is advisable to consult your general practitioner about your health and follow their recommendations. This way you will avoid a whole range of complications that could affect you in a few years.
