A stuffy nose and headache are common nuisances during winter. If you’re looking for a quick solution without nasal sprays, try simple massage techniques and acupressure points. You only need a little massage oil and a few minutes.

How to massage the sinuses for relief from a runny nose

Massages help release pressure and ease the discomfort associated with blocked sinuses. Thanks to these simple techniques you’ll feel better within minutes.

Frontal sinus massage

  • Place your index fingers between your eyebrows.
  • Use circular motions moving from the brow toward the temples.
  • Repeat 10 times.

Olfactory labyrinth massage

  • Place your index fingers along the bridge of the nose.
  • With gentle circular motions, massage toward the upper part of the nose, close to the corners of the eyes.
  • Repeat 10 times (avoid the eyes).

Maxillary sinus massage

  • Place your index fingers at the outer corners of the nostrils.
  • With circular motions, massage along the cheekbones toward the ears.
  • Repeat 10 times.

Massage of the main sinuses (sphenoidal)

  • Massage the area behind the ears with circular motions.
  • Move toward the front of the ears.
  • Repeat 10 times.

Nasal relief by rubbing

Apply a small amount of oil to your palms and warm them by rubbing.

  1. Rubbing the nose: Massage the tip of the nose in circular motions (15–20 times). Then change direction and repeat.
  2. Massage from the nose to the ears: Using your thumbs, massage from the center of the nose toward the ears, repeat the movement 2–3 times.
  3. Massage under the jaw: Using your thumbs, massage under the jaw toward the collarbones, repeat 2–3 times.

Acupressure points for quick relief

With acupressure you can easily loosen the sinuses and relieve pressure. Simply press gently or massage the following points with circular motions:

  • LI20: Located on both sides of the nose, where the nose meets the cheeks.
  • BL2: Between the bridge of the nose and the upper eyelid. Find the small depressions between the eyebrow and the nose.
  • Yintang (the third eye point): Located between the eyebrows, about 2 cm upward. It helps with colds and headaches.
  • SI18: Points under the cheekbones near the nose, ideal for swollen sinuses.
  • GB20: Located at the back of the head, in the hollows on the rear of the skull where the neck muscles attach.

A natural path to relief

These techniques are fast, effective and completely natural. This way you can clear a stuffy nose without chemicals or nasal sprays. They also help relieve other cold symptoms, such as headache or watery eyes. Try them and you’ll feel the relief yourself!
