Beijing – The pandemic of the new type of coronavirus could end by June if all countries of the world mobilize their forces in the fight against this dangerous infection. According to the Reuters agency, this was stated today by the respected Chinese epidemiologist Zhong Nan-shan.
“If countries take the spread of the infection seriously and are prepared to undertake decisive measures, the pandemic could be behind us within a few months,” said the aforementioned advisor to the Chinese government on health matters, who in 2003 made a significant contribution to stopping the spread of the SARS disease, also caused by coronaviruses .
“I advise all countries to follow the directives of the World Health Organization and act at the national level,” added Zhong.
The epidemiologist reminded that viruses belonging to the same category as the new type of coronavirus are less active in the warm months, which could help slow the progress of the infection.
“My estimate regarding June is based on all countries taking the right measures. If not, the pandemic may last longer,” stated the eighty-three-year-old health expert Zhong.
