Mint has beneficial effects not only on digestion and stomach problems. Drinking mint tea before a meal will stimulate the appetite, while afterwards it eases digestion. You can use it for colds, and also for mouth rinses. Herpes treated in the initial stage will not fully break out.
There are 10 mineral properties of mint that few people know
Treatment of colds
During an epidemic of flu and rhinitis a cup of mint tea is a reliable helper. Menthol, which is contained in its composition, eases breathing during a cold and relieves headache. When preparing the tea, the cup should be covered with a cloth during infusion. A small teaspoon of dried leaves is poured over with a glass of boiling water. Cover the cup and let it steep for a few minutes.
Strengthens the heart
Tea with mint and honey is useful for heart and vascular diseases (used as supportive therapy). It improves the heart rhythm and supports the health of the entire vascular system.
For women’s health
Many women will appreciate a cup of mint tea or mint lemonade. During menstruation it helps reduce pain; they have an analgesic effect. Larger doses of mint tea are not recommended for men, because they can reduce levels of male hormones.
During pregnancy
For many years drinking mint tea was considered the best weapon against toxicosis for pregnant women. But don’t overdo it with the tea, it can reduce the “lákací” process – no more than 1 cup 2–3 times a week.
You will lose weight
A mint drink can suppress thirst, and is also excellent for replenishing fluids in the body. It also helps reduce feelings of hunger. The composition of mint contains essential oils that help blunt hunger. If you want to lose weight, then mint tea or mint water is the right choice. Many nutrition experts recommend turning to mint when trying to lose weight.
Improves digestion
Mint tea protects against heartburn and improves bowel function.
Get rid of toothache
Mint tea used for rinsing the oral cavity will help get rid of stomatitis and relieve tooth pain.
Soothing effect
Mint tea is able to calm the nerves, help you relax, and protect against negative influences on the body.
For migraines
Many folk healers recommend using mint tea to ease headaches.
Improves skin condition
The composition of mint has an antibacterial effect and is widely used to improve the condition of the skin. A mint decoction helps relieve itching, inflammation and rashes.
Mint repellent
Pleasant herbal scents simply do not appeal to ticks. While you enjoy mint in a mojito, tea or candies, for ticks the scent of menthol is downright repulsive. You can make their life unpleasant with a repellent made from 20 drops of mint oil and two cups of water.
Mint tincture and mint oil
Wilted mint leaves are placed in a quality vegetable oil and macerated for about 14 days in a sunny spot. Occasionally stir, then strain. Wilted means they are left in the air for approximately half a day.
We use the oil for gently massaging muscles – for headaches, for rubbing the back and chest in cases of congestion, or for rhinitis and cough. Mint oil will also please your skin. It helps soothe skin ailments and you can also use it for a head massage – it increases blood flow to the skin and refreshes the hair roots.
Mint tincture acts as an excellent preventive measure. Pour a handful of mint leaves with quality alcohol and leave to macerate on a sunny windowsill for about 1 month. Occasionally stir and then decant.
We take about 20 drops of the tincture 3 times a day for headaches, throat pain, bloating, cough, insomnia, to support the good function of the liver, pancreas and urinary tract. Again, I recommend consulting a doctor about taking the tincture.
If you want to remove alcohol from the tincture, simply drop it into hot tea or water; the alcohol will evaporate quickly.
