What does eye twitching look like?

It is repeated, uncontrollable blinking or small spasms of the eyelid, usually the upper one. It usually affects the muscles of both eyes and when it happens, it can last several seconds or minutes. In more serious cases it can last for several days in a row, appearing and disappearing alternately, until it finally goes away completely and you have no idea at all why it started or how it stopped.

Cause of twitching

People claim that such problems appear because of stress or nausea caused by an excessive amount of caffeine, tobacco or alcohol. They also say that it is associated with dry eye, allergies or debris on the surface of the eye or on the eyelid. And sometimes it happens for no reason, it doesn’t hurt, it’s harmless and after a few minutes it disappears on its own.

There are also more serious causes

Even so you should be careful, because there are cases when eye twitching is a symptom of a more serious neurological disease , for example blepharospasms, that is abnormal blinking due to an eyelid spasm or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
