Parents want the best for their children and want to ensure their health and happiness. Occasionally parents do not realize the consequences of their actions, which seem completely normal to them. Many people in the world eat hot dogs in various forms fairly often. Epidemiologists have found that children who consume more than 12 hot dogs per month have a 9 times greater risk of health problems such as leukemia.
Hot dogs
In a scientific study, children were involved who ate hot dogs in a bun several times a week and were therefore exposed to a higher risk of brain cancer.
This study examined the relationship between foods and the risk of leukemia in children from birth to age 10 in Los Angeles from 1980 to 1987.
Cancer in children
Researchers Surusua and Savitz studied cases of childhood cancer in Denver and found that children born to mothers who consumed hot dogs in a bun once or more times per week during pregnancy had approximately double the risk of developing brain tumors.
The whole thing is caused by nitrates that are contained in the hot dogs, which are the cause of these serious health problems.
Red meat
Processed red meat commonly contains sodium, nitrates, phosphates and other food additives. Smoked and grilled meat contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and this can cause an increased risk of heart failure. Nitrite and nitrate are not carcinogenic, but under certain conditions in the body they can be converted into a byproduct called an N-nitroso compound, such as nitrosamine.
Some preserved meats have vitamin C added, which keeps nitrites stable and can reduce these dangerous cancer risks. New cases of cancer caused by nitrates appear every year.
How to prevent it?
-Consume a minimal amount of fatty and processed products such as hot dogs and sausages or smoked meats.
-Carefully check labels and avoid products that contain potassium nitrates.
-Eat organic foods. Synthetic nitrates are not allowed as preservatives in organically packaged foods.
-You must know what you drink! Try to get information about the drinking water consumed by the public.
-Eat a diet high in antioxidants. Vitamin C and some other foods can reduce nitrate levels.
