Life under stress with everyday responsibilities significantly affects our immune system. People increasingly reach for medicinal herbs instead of medicines. They are becoming popular because they contain a number of beneficial substances for our health.
Herbal medicines are generally safe, but even in this case some of them can cause serious side effects. One of the risky medicinal herbs is St. John’s wort, which is often used for depression and psychological disorders.
Which herb is it?
The latest research, which was published in the scientific journal Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, however, came with shocking results. During their analysis, doctors found that the mentioned herb has effects similar to the antidepressant fluoxetine.

The side effects of the herb are thus the same as in the case of taking antidepressants, primarily anxiety, panic attacks, dizziness, amnesia and aggression. A herbal remedy should also not be taken if the patient is using contraceptive pills, blood thinners or other antidepressants.
