Problems with achieving the ideal weight and maintaining it plague millions of people around the world and are predominantly found among women of all age groups.

Most women suffer from some insecurity about their appearance, are unable to perceive their positive sides and tend to compare themselves to supposedly perfect beauties.

What is ideal weight and what are the risks of overweight?

Defining ideal weight is fairly problematic because a whole range of factors comes into play, especially overall health, which can influence weight and, conversely, can significantly complicate its desirable adjustment. In such cases it is always recommended to consult the measurements with specialists, namely with

  • a doctor
  • a physiotherapist, and
  • a nutrition advisor.

If you have significantly more weight than you should have, you must expect that you will be generally slower and will tire quickly and may not be able to keep up with completing some work tasks, or you will be limited in physical activities with friends, which can have a negative effect on your psyche. However, your body is also at risk, since overweight, or worse, obesity, means a higher risk of developing some health problems, especially diabetes, undesirable high blood pressure, but also heart disease and cancers.

Once you become aware of these factors, it will be easier for you to start doing something about it. However, to be successful in your efforts it is good to know the start and also to see the goal. In this particular case that means knowing the starting weight and also the target weight you want to reach. And setting that target weight is often the stumbling block, because you usually do not know how much you should weigh to be considered within the so‑called normal range.

The table that will help you orient yourself in weight categories

A table can help you with that, which can be found on various websites, and which combines height with the individual body types and for each of them gives an established ideal weight for the given height, and that in a range, that is from–to. Body types are slim, medium (normal) and rounded.

Sometimes this table is also supplemented by a section containing excesses, meaning an overview of weights that already represent overweight and obesity, which is divided into two degrees, the second of which is of course more serious.

In any case, the important thing is the decision that you want to do something about yourself. Consider the table only as a guideline and, according to your possibilities, try to get as close as possible to the values shown. Do not forget a varied and healthy diet and sufficient exercise and you will see that the results will soon follow!
