” A breeze after dusk has something it wants to tell you. Don’t go back to bed! You must ask for what you truly want. Just don’t go back to bed. “- Rumi
People often complain that they are unable to fall asleep in the evening or that they wake up in the middle of the night without an alarm ringing.
Perhaps your body is trying to tell you something in this way that you should pay proper attention to.
First, however, you need to know how to correctly interpret similar signals.
What is the body telling us through sleep and waking?
You may not even know it, but energy flows through meridians in your body.
There are numerous articles that explain how these meridians are understood by traditional Chinese medicine and why they are used in acupressure or acupuncture to address various health problems.
It is relatively little known that these meridians are also connected to the body’s internal clock. According to Chinese medicine, individual organs energetically recharge at different times during the day and night.
Therefore, if you regularly wake up at the same hour of the night, it means that some of your bodily areas are blocked or weak. At that point you need to do something to correct the condition.
Difficulty falling asleep between 21:00 and 23:00
Most people go to bed between nine and eleven in the evening. If you can’t fall asleep then, you are likely stressed and have many worries during the day. That causes your problem falling asleep.
You should try some positive mantras, meditation, or stretching and muscle relaxation exercises. That should help you fall asleep faster.
Waking between 23:00 and 01:00
Traditional Chinese medicine links this time period with the flow of energy through the gallbladder.
If you wake at this time, you are likely experiencing some kind of emotional disappointment. It helps to practice unconditional self-acceptance and forgiveness of others.
Waking between 1:00 and 3:00
This time period is associated with the flow of energy through the liver.
If you wake then, you probably have unresolved feelings of anger and excess yang energy.
To address this problem you should drink more cold water and deal with the situation that made you angry. That should stop waking at the mentioned time.
Waking between 3:00 and 5:00
This hour is characterized by the flow of energy through the lung meridian and is associated with feelings of sadness.
If you want to fall back asleep after waking, breathe slowly and deeply. At the same time, trust your “higher energy”, which will help you with your problems.
Another reason for waking at this time may be that your “higher energy” is sending you a sign to align with your deeper purpose.
Waking between 5:00 and 7:00
During these early morning hours energy flows through your intestines. Waking at this time indicates emotional blockages.
Usually it helps if, after waking, you stretch a little or perhaps go to the bathroom. Then you should be able to fall asleep again.
Brain functions and waking up in the middle of the night
When we wake up in the middle of the night, our brain is not fully online. The New Yorker magazine describes this phenomenon as follows:
One consequence of early or sudden awakening is a phenomenon called sleep inertia.
The term was first used in 1976. It denotes the time between awakening and full wakefulness. The more abruptly you woke up, the deeper this state will be.
When we suddenly wake at night, our frontal cortex, which is involved in decision-making and self-control, is not yet awake and therefore we are not capable of deeper intelligent thoughts.
For this reason, never make serious decisions then.
Awakening and fulfilling your deeper life purpose
You often dream during sleep, and this is exactly the time when you may receive messages from the universe (from God, spirits, energy, and so on) about your life path.
Your dreams can reveal important details about your spiritual path, so it is good if you can correctly identify the signals from higher energies or beings that they send you.
Of course, there are many people who do not believe this.
But there are also many who have chosen to follow their destiny in life. They understand that we are in this world to learn something and to improve ourselves. In other words, to become better versions of ourselves.
Spiritually minded people call this the process of transformation to a higher level of consciousness. To achieve it, however, you need to know your deeper life purpose.
Regardless of whether you believe in such a transformation or not, if you always wake between 3:00 and 5:00 in the morning, you should turn your attention to the “higher forces”. It is the only way to restore a good night’s sleep.
