The times are simply like that. We almost have our mobile phone attached to our hand and for many of us it is hard to be separated from it, even when we need to go to that room. It seems that the era of reading newspapers on the toilet has been definitively replaced by surfing the internet and especially social networks. Newspapers and magazines had their place in the toilet. But mobiles travel with us everywhere. From the toilet perhaps straight to breakfast, then to public transport and so on. And now ask yourself a question. Most of us wash our hands after using the toilet, but how many of you also disinfect your mobile phone? Such a triviality can cause considerable health problems for you and your loved ones.
A harmless bad habit, or a dangerous gamble with your health
You may say, it’s not such a big deal — after all I’ll wash my hands after the toilet. That’s all well and good, but if you are not equipped with a disinfectant with which you would also disinfect your phone, then washing your hands is utterly pointless.
This seemingly innocent vice can infect you and your loved ones with fecal bacteria such as:
- Salmonella
- E. coli bacteria
- Campylobacter and others
Not to mention that the need to have your mobile constantly with you is a sign of a developed addiction that can have a negative impact on your personal and work life.
What to do about it?
If you simply don’t intend to give up your phone on the toilet but don’t want any health problems, strictly follow hygiene rules. Wash your hands, disinfect the entire mobile and wash your hands again. The risk of infection increases if you use your mobile in public toilets. At home and in a small office the risk of infection is low. Ideally, however, you simply don’t take your mobile to the toilet. You can probably manage a few minutes without it.
