Paper ten-crown notes were among the most widespread banknotes. Many people at that time called it the “five.” Few people now know who was depicted on this banknote.
The faces themselves were two girls, Marta Cisáriková and Margita Hlaváčiková.
These two women were once known by everyone and this banknote was in circulation for an incredible 27 years.

After many years these two women met and talked about many things. They mainly talked about the creation of this banknote.
The author of this beautiful banknote was Marie Medvecká. Academic painter Mária Medvecká was a Slovak painter
and a representative of Slovak realistic impressionism.

This painter immortalized the two girls on the banknote when they were only 10 years old.

Margarita lives in Trstené and Marta in Tvrdošína. Both recalled how the painter posed them and kept them still so they would hold the pose for a moment
and she could paint them and immortalize them on this banknote.

One of the girls was wearing a headscarf, allegedly because at the time of the portrait she had short hair. This girl is a representative of old Orava.

The two women, the girls from the banknote, are still sought after today by collectors who collect banknotes and ask them for autographs.
According to some of them, it is one of the most beautiful banknotes ever.

And this is what the women look like today.
